Lake Como, Italy

In the summer of 2014 hubby and I took a trip to Italy during his seasonal school break in Europe. Naturally, as he used to live in Milan, we took a short trip to Lake Como to visit Varenna, Bellagio and Como. It’s been a bit of a love affair since and for that summer, Italy stole my heart over France. Located in the Lombardy region of Italy, Lake Como is a popular retreat with an abundance of Italian flavour and zest.

Varenna is a quiet little gem, filled with several really impressive views over the lake, almost tropical-like. You’ll find several little private villas with views that are almost identical to that spot in Star Wars where Lord Vader married Padme. In fact, that scene on Naboo was shot not far from there.

Some snapshots below! (taken with my phone).

Stop by Bellagio for some Italian gelato and gifts to bring home. If you’re lucky you’ll find this nook of a spot on a private road away from the main attractions with an incredible view of the lake. Can you believe the third picture down below is someone’s backyard view? We were so mesmerized we almost missed our boat to Como!

One of the fondest memories I have was having dinner in Como and is seeing a group of young Italians about our age on a double-date sitting the table next to ours. They were all finely dressed, the girls with their wavy hair and long skirts and the boys with their fitted Italian suits. It completed the portrait really nicely and I was in awe the whole time.

Hoping you’ll get to visit,
